The Department of Dermatology at Westmead Hospital is a multicultural Unit that understands and promotes the interactions across countries and cultures, and maintains a number of programs for International students and clinicians. You can take a look at our former trainees and fellows.

Elective rotation in the Department of Dermatology at Westmead Hospital can be requested through the Westmead Clinical School.

Dermatology trainees: Observerships

This is a 3-month rotation in the Department of Dermatology at Westmead Hospital. This program has been running since 2011 and, today, we have a 2 year waiting list. Please, contact the Department of Dermatology at Westmead Hospital for more information.

Dermatologists

Oncodermatology fellowship

This is a 1 year program for dermatologists that have completed their training. It is an Honorary position and candidates should bring their own sponsorship. The program comprises a range of clinical and research activities. Included in this clinical attachment are weekly clinics of:

  • Non-Melanoma Skin Cancer (Keratinocyte Carcinomas and others)
    • General Oncodermatology, Solid-Organ Transplant clinic, Skin Cancer triage clinic
    • Non-melanoma skin cancer multidisciplinary meeting: management of advanced cases of metastatic melanoma in a multidisciplinary environment with pathologists, plastic surgeons, and surgical, medical and radiation oncologists.
  • Melanoma:
    • High-Risk Melanoma Clinic, Lentigo Maligna clinic
    • Surgical Oncology and Medical Oncology Melanoma clinics
    • 2D and 3D Full body photography (Vectra and Fotofinder), sequential digital dermoscopy, and confocal microscopy.
    • Melanoma Unit multidisciplinary meeting: management of advanced cases of metastatic melanoma in a multidisciplinary environment with pathologists, plastic surgeons, and surgical, medical and radiation oncologists.
  • Cutaneous Lymphoma
    • Cutaneous Lymphoma clinic with haematologists and radiation oncologists.
  • Cutaneous Graft-versus-Host Disease (monthly)
    • Multidisciplinary clinic with haematologists.
  • Surgical Clinic with Plastic and Mohs surgeons: surgical cases from simple side-to-side closures to flaps and grafts (no Mohs surgery training).
  • Cutaneous Effects of Anti-cancer medications: classical chemotherapy, targeted therapies, immunotherapies, etc.
  • Radiation Oncology

Medical Dermatology fellowship

The Department has specialised clinics for Severe Psoriasis, Severe Eczema, Hidradenitis Suppurativa, Urticaria, Complex Medical Dermatology, Adolescent and Young Adult dermatology and Hair. Other specialised clinics are in development.
