The 21st Annual Lorne Proteomics Symposium, organized by the Australasian Proteomics Society, was held between February 4th – 7th 2016 at the Mantra hotel and conference centre in Lorne, Victoria.
The Symposium which was attended by more than a hundred scientists and researchers presented the latest developments in proteomics technologies and tools for the interpretation of proteomics outputs, and their application toward answering fundamental questions in biology.
From the Department of Dermatology at Westmead Hospital/Sydney University, I had a poster presentation showcasing our research and findings on the proteome of Cutaneous Squamous Cell Carcinoma.
The symposium was a great opportunity to meet new researchers in the field of proteomics and to discuss recent advancements and challenges with mass spectrometry and its application in molecular biology, including tumours. It was good to see that there are breakthrough developments happening in the area of proteomics. Particularity, the development and application of SWATH data acquisition method has revolutionised our understanding of cell proteomes.
Personally, I enjoyed the symposium, and it was a great and unique opportunity for learning new ideas and teachniques, networking as well as discussing ideas for future collaborations.
