We are pleased to announce that the Department of Dermatology at Westmead Hospital, under the leadership of Prof Pablo Fernandes-Penas, has been awarded the NSW Health Statewide Biobank Grant to collect and store samples of skin lesions including skin cancers and inflammatory skin conditions to be used for research.
The collection will be the first of its kind in NSW, Australia, and probably in the world, to offer a comprehensive number of samples from over 10 types of skin neoplasms and inflammatory skin conditions. This will facilitate important collaborative and translational research in NSW and will offer the development of surgical and non-surgical diagnostic and therapeutic strategies with commercial potential.
The collected samples will be available to the wider skin research teams from 2023 and beyond. Get in touch with us if your research requires plasma as well as non-invasively collected skin biospecimens.
Congratulations to Prof Fernandez-Penas and the team for being part of a change in skin research!
