On 14th of May 2018, the Centre of Translational Skin Research successfully held the annual “Melanoma in May” question and answer evening at Westmead Hospital. This information session evening provided a multi-disciplinary look at the treatments of melanoma.
Our team of experienced speakers comprised of Professor Graham Mann, Dr Germana Consuegra. Dr Julie Howle, Dr Matt Carlino, Dr Tim Wang and Professor Fernandez. Our speakers covered the topics of who gets melanomas, how to diagnose melanomas, surgical options, medical options, radiotherapy options and what we can do to prevent melanomas. During the evening, our audience which comprised of members of the general public, melanoma survivors, family and friends of melanomas, as well as local general practitioners asked a number of thought-provoking questions and also shared their own personal journey.
We would like to thank the dedicated team of speakers for their time and efforts to increase public awareness of this serious skin cancer as well as all their involvement in research discover new and better treatments to combat this disease.
We look forward to planning our next Melanoma in May evening!
