It is most encouraging for the Australian Centre of Excellence in Melanoma Imaging and Diagnosis (ACEMID) team in The University of Sydney, New South Wales and our interstate university partners University of Queensland in Queensland and Monash University, Victoria, to receive and be recognised by the public and Universities Australia for the Shaping Australia – Problem Solver Award amongst other talented finalists running for this category.
We are humbled by the number of votes ACEMID received and would like to thank and acknowledge the support from the Australian Cancer Research Foundation (ACRF), to enable the three universities (UQ, USYD and Monash) and our multi-disciplinary team to build this network of advanced 3D imaging systems for our skin imaging research project to take shape.
The team is immensely proud of the ACEMID project and our commitment in early detection of melanoma, the technology and the delivery of the project is far reaching, from metropolitan to our regional communities in our three states. For USYD, NSW team, we are so fortunate to be able work with our regional partners in Orange, Port Macquarie and Wagga Wagga.
We are hopeful that ACEMID would provide the largest National Research Repository that could facilitate more melanoma and skin cancer research and education; to promote technological advances in skin cancer detection with Artificial Intelligence, as well as to address resource gaps in regional and remote areas to help reduce the incidence of melanoma and skin cancers for all Australians.
