ACEMID was awarded the Eureka Prize for Excellence in Interdisciplinary Research

The Eureka Prizes are the “Oscars” of Science in Australia. ACEMID (ACRF Australian Centre of Excellence in Melanoma Imaging and Diagnosis) was one of the three finalists for the Aspire Scholarship Eureka Prize for Excellence in Interdisciplinary Scientific Research. The Extinction vs Adaption Team and the Octopus and Ice Sheet Team were the other two finalists in this category.

On the 4th of September, during an excellent event at Sydney Town Hall, 19 individuals and teams were recognised, and ACEMID was awarded the Aspire Scholarship Eureka Prize for Excellence in Interdisciplinary Scientific Research.

ACRF ACEMID truly represents multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research. Melanoma is still one of the most frequent cancers affecting young adults and can be controlled with primary prevention and early detection. We aim to revolutionise the early detection of melanoma using 3D Photography, Sequential Digital Dermoscopy, Polygenic Risk, Scarless proteomics, and epidemiological and traditional risk factors. The number of partners working together to implement the 3D Photography systems, and the number of new partners we are recruiting to manage and analyse the information we are generating is staggering.

We welcome new partners, collaborators and donors. Please, do not hesitate to contact us at the University of Sydney or our teams at the University of Queensland or Monash University.
