Hello! My name is Anila Bonfil. I’m a second-year student studying a Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Advanced Studies (Advanced) and majoring in Genetics and Genomics as well as Neuroscience.
This semester I am working on a project under Dr Ali Azimi looking into the integration of proteomic and imageomic analysis in order to improve the early diagnosis of melanoma. Early melanoma detection allows for reduced morbidity for patients, however, early diagnosis is difficult as early melanomas may lack specific imaging or histopathological features. Therefore, it is important to develop more accurate, efficient, and non-invasive approaches to detection for melanomas. This project aims to combine imaging data with proteomic information to evaluate their accuracy in early melanoma diagnosis. The histopathological diagnosis will be used as the gold standard in this analysis.
I’m greatly looking forward to working with this department!
