We are pleased to announce that Dr Ali Azimi, a member of the CTSR, was this week awarded the Sydney West Translational Cancer Research Centre (SW-TCRC) Early Career Accelerator Grant. The grant which includes salary support and direct research costs will allow Dr Azimi to continue his research works involving the proteomic investigation of early melanoma and non-melanoma lesions for the identification of novel diagnostic and classification biomarkers.
Ali’s works are parts of the 5+ years research program at the CTSR entitled “multi-omics diagnosis and classification of epidermal skin cancers [melanoma, squamous cell carcinoma and basal cell carcinoma and their precursors] to develop non-invasive diagnostic methods”. Overall, this main project aims to develop a reliable diagnostic strategy in skin cancers involving proteomics data guided by histopathological characterization, imaging and genotyping information. This approach will result in a better understanding of skin cancers by observing changes at many levels of information that most directly correlates with the clinical outcome.
We would like to thank the SW-TCRC for their continued support of our team and our skin cancer researches.
