I started in this role in 2014 and this week I will be sadly saying goodbye to the wonderful teams I have worked with both at The Skin Hospital and The Department of Dermatology at Westmead Hospital.
My time as Research Unit Manager has been very enjoyable and one through which I have gained invaluable experience and knowledge. I have learnt the process of a clinical trial from initiation to close-out and have been able to apply my knowledge of the research process to the clinical setting.
It is an exciting time for the Research & Clinical Trials Unit at The Skin Hospital and I hope that the unit will continue to grow, both in terms of the team and clinical trials as well as the integration of research into The Skin Hospital more widely. The vision for the continued collaboration between The Skin Hospital and the Department of Dermatology Westmead with the Centre for Translational Skin Research (CTSR) is also very exciting and will be an important component of research and teaching in the Westmead Research Hub. Westmead is the place to be, watch this space!!
All of these groups are headed and guided by Professor Pablo Fernandez-Penas who is a fantastic leader shown not only by his efforts in growing and supporting the research but also his fierce dedication and support to all on his team and all that he works with. My sincere thanks to Prof Fernandez-Penas for all, and also to everyone that I have worked with from both The Skin Hospital and Westmead Dermatology during this time. I am sure that I will not lose contact and I hope to still be a part and contribute to the CTSR in the future.
