On the 5th of April 2018, one of our Oncodermatology clinics’ team members presented an educational program of EGFRi-related cutaneous effects during the 2018 Australia & New Zealand Lung Cancer Nurses Workshop at the Australian Lung Cancer Conference in Sydney.
The ANZ-LCNF nurses workshop was a pre-conference event to the 7th Australian Lung Cancer Conference. It was an international knowledge sharing event, where participants had the opportunity to share their knowledge and discuss practical information from experts that can be implemented into their clinical practice.
In this practical management-oriented framework, Dr Germana Consuegra (Dermatologist & Oncodermatology Fellow), presented The EFGRi Skin Toxicities during a session aiming to improve the management of people undergoing EGFRi-therapy.
Dr Consuegra’s presentation, in addition to introducing the audience with evidence-based recommendations, focused on outlining the importance of health practitioners developing an active involvement in the recognition, prevention and management of skin reactions resulting from EGFRi treatment.
In the latter part of the presentation, Dr Consuegra reminded attendees how an inter- disciplinary model of care is key maintaining cancer patients’ quality of life and outcomes.
