As medical practitioners, we often promote healthy living to our patients. We encourage patients to exercise and stay active. However, often doctors face difficulties in balancing our lives with heavy workload, and finding right time to train and exercise can be challenging. Recently, one of our dermatology registrar Dr Tevi Wain has successfully completed Oxfam Australia Trailwalker, which was a fundraising event where she and her 3 mates managed to complete 100km bush trail journey within 48 hours. Her active lifestyle has encouraged a lot of us working in Westmead dermatology department (research team, registrars, administrator, international observer, friends and family) to huddle around and completed 10km casual walk from Spit Bridge to Manly on 24th of September. We enjoyed beautiful views along the walk and trees acted as great shelters to protect our skin from the strong sun. We were conscious of good sun protection such as reapplying sunscreens intermittently during the walk, and wearing sunglasses and hats. It was truly amazing experience for all of us, and we hope to have more of these opportunities in the future!
